Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Health Ministry and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) have strengthened their cooperation to eradicate corruption in the health sector, marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Wednesday.
Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin noted in a statement on Thursday that the health sector is highly complex, particularly regarding financing and service management. To this end, strengthening governance is a vital component of Indonesia's ongoing health transformation.
Under this agreement, the two institutions will bolster coordination, info exchange, and joint initiatives to prevent and combat corruption, aiming to improve transparency and accountability in health programs.
The MoU serves as a continuation of a previous partnership that expired in December 2025.
Sadikin asserted that the Health Ministry is committed to continuously improving internal systems and governance to prevent systemic corruption.
He also emphasized that building integrity must start from within the organization, including fostering a clean and transparent workplace culture.
"We must improve the system and build a clean culture. Without a good culture, the system will not function," the minister remarked.
In the same statement, KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto noted that the collaboration, which has been renewed for the 2026-2030 period, is a major step toward strengthening corruption prevention in the public sector.
"The collaboration between the KPK and the Health Ministry must continue to grow stronger, particularly in prevention efforts. Effective prevention will allow us to avoid long and complex enforcement processes," he said.
Budiyanto also emphasized the crucial role of leadership in ensuring effective oversight across all levels of the organization.
Through this reinforced partnership, the Health Ministry hopes to foster a culture of integrity and clean governance, ultimately realizing a transparent, accountable, and people-oriented national health system.
